This is one of my earliest embroidery pieces, an Orca, dated 1982. I no longer have this pattern or the artists's name. |

This design was from the NFL Huddles series and is the mascot for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I'm not much really a football fan, but I'm quite fond of this team as I spent my early years liviing in Tampa and have a very soft spot for it. Though I don't have a date for it, I'm thinking this was stitched in the early 1990's.
I like this little guy though I have no idea what to do wtih him at this point. His left hand did not work out at all and I don't remember why any more. He was also back-stitch city!

This is the blue geisha from the Theresa Lee Collection Book II (Shariane Designs), published in 1980. I completed this one in 1995 while riding Amtrak to visit with my mom down in Florida. It's not an overly fancy piece and no back-stitching. I'm glad of that - back stitching is not my favortie to work with.
There is a matching courtesan piece to go with this one in yellows and green that I've kitted up, just need to finish up some other pieces so I can start on it. Once I have the matching figure completed, they can be framed.

This lion portrait is also one of my early pieces (1992). It is from one of those packaged kits I had picked up some years before. I don't know the name of the designer or the company that made it any longer as I don't have the pattern.
This has been one of my favorite pieces and one I've been proud of. I was very pleased that the eyes came out so well as they give the picture life. I did get very tired of all those browns and golds, especially when working with the lion's mane. This one I kept for myself; it's now framed and hanging in our entry way at the front door.

This is from the Snippet series by Lizzie Kate Designs., and was finished in September 2005. I have been dealing with carpal tunnel problems due to the job and had stopped stitching for about 10 years. I finally have started getting back to it and wanted something small, quick and easy just to remind myelf that I can finish something I've started. This was the result. I'll probably put this in a small frame for my desk so I won't forget that I am a stitcher :) |

This is from the Patches and Pals booklet by Ursula Michael, distributed by Jeanette Crews Designs, also completed in September 2005. added in the little anchor charm to give it a slightly different look and a bit of sparkle.
One of my best friends worked wtih JC Designs and had told me of this pattern book that featured nothing but scarecrows, a favorite subject of mine. I have the matching piece featuring a scarecrow watering the flowers at the window on a sunny day. It's about a third finished at the moment. Once the match is completed, they'll be framed and probably put in the kitchen which has a sunflower and scarecrow theme to it.
